The first time the researchers faced light-emitting diodes turned to be an occasional experiment. Works with the semiconductor Silicon Carbide (SiC) showed that under electricity it could emit light. That was in the first years of the 20th century. Still the light was too dim and that time it was no sense to go on with the invention for it could hardly ever be applied. Anyway surely that was not the full-stop in light-emitting diode technique development.
Twenty years had to be lost and then at last the idea of this type of light emitter was considered by Russian and German researchers. Still the research wasn't successful as the scientists didn't manage to turn those lights brighter. Then the word electroluminescence first appeared in the report of 1936 and the scientists started thinking of led neon kits again. But even that did not eventually bring much success. Again in some time in 1950s thanks to the experiments of British specialists the process of progress started. So infrared light-emitting diode was invented. And that all led to the invention of the 1st visible spectrum light-emitting diode, which was red and was made with Gallium Phosphide (GaP).
And then LED technology went on developing quickly. Now some results in that were gained regularly. Various colors and better light were made with the use of different substrates. Once it used to be just red, but then came orange, pale green, yellow and others up to green. As for the popular blue LED lights , they were created in 90-es when Gallium Nitride was used in the production for the first time. Another progress of led lighting development came when the researchers happened to create white light with fluorescent phosphors. Any tint of those lights is available now.
Correspondingly other methods to apply LEDs were created. They served as perfect indicators or the material to light monitors for they pitifully were of small light output that time. Moreover, using them was actually not too cheap. As a result they were functioning just in some test gadgets in the laboratories. Later anyway they were entered into clocks, cameras and other things we apply every day. Manufacture of monitors was another field for LED lights to be used in for many color tints were now available. Their progress turned to be very useful for digital technolgies.
Later in 1997 James P. Mitchell invented the 1st LED flat panel television which had red monochromatic display. Later came the creation of blue diodes in the end of 1990s. Their price lowered and they were actively used. And the last period of 1990s is famous for the start point of flat panel light-emitting diode TV set production because exactly that time all the existing colors could be modeled.
The specialists managed to make lights more rich and LEDs were entered in many fields of technology. Not only indicators, luckily LED lights were used in some devices designed just for producing light. Things like flashlights, light signals and city lighting were all supplied with those LEDs. light-emitting diodes were this time special, there were led grow light and many other kinds, they were in flashlights, autos, house gadgets, in any place families could apply them. The grounds were in small price and great potential of the invention.
Anyway all that evolution took quite much time. Some wonderful discovery turned into the thing we can't imagine our lives without now. And if we just imagine how desperate the project looked for its first developers! They thought the work could lead to no result. And it's great that the specialists went on dealing with that as now we can apply light-emitting diodes!
