When it comes to musicals, it must take someone pretty silly to overlook what was perhaps one of the greatest and most famous musicals of all time. Sound of music was about a governess, Maria, who is hired by a Captain Von Trapp to take care of his high spirited 7 children and educate them. The Wizard of Oz is one of those timeless musicals which people will never tire of seeing. The Wizard of Oz is a school favorite, perfect for small children to perform and well loved by the audiences. This musical is about a girl named Dorothy who gets whisked away from home by a tornado and lands up in a place called Oz and finds new friends there.

Irish music or the music of Ireland is such that it has various styles and a kind of a lyrical soothing sound to it. Traditional Irish music is still very much firmly rooted in Ireland. The one thing that crops up in my mind about Irish music is the music and dance oriented act, Riverdance, which popularized many aspects about Ireland. Riverdance had such an appeal that it gave a new dimension to the Irish music and dance scene. Although experts argue about the authenticity of the Irish music used (because it has a lot of influences as well), I personally loved Riverdance; its beautiful sets, brilliant dancers, exquisite costumes and the very talented musicians had me asking for more.

Irish music still has a strong foothold today despite the emergence of new styles of the music scenario. Irish music saw its peak from the ninth to the middle of the eleventh century. Indie music bands were never crazy about amassing the crowd. They always remained underground. Well, there are a lot of speculations in association with the term ‘indie’. While some construe to it as a genre of rock music, some deeply believe that it has more to do with independent music created by artists who worked under independent record labels. But who’s interested in knowing the history these indie alternative bands mazed behind? Today, we’ll rather talk about the aesthetic indie rock bands which cared less about the context in which the music was composed, but more on independent acknowledgment.
