Punk rock originated in the 1970's as a raucous, guerilla take-over opposed to mainstream music charted by the number or sales. Bands like Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, and Rancid boosted punk back in the mid-1990's. This time the mesh of lively, simple rock with melodic pop melodies hang around on the MTV. These days, self-styled punk pop is a key piece of puzzle in the world of chart music. These 10 record albums are fine starting points to get to know pop punk.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's unbounded attempt to offend all grown ups in the neighbourhood, that tape shed light upon a model dressed as an enema governess on the booklet. The music inside is adolescent and never-to-be-forgotten with the massive hit single “Dumpweed.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

Girls perform punk pop, too, and this record album is a profuse proof of the fact. The group styled after the rock band Ramones with each singer going by the name Donna. Download Paramore to compare.

3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless

Good Charlotte with Paul Thomas got into the top ten of the popular music album chart with this set. It's filled with stories of high school and problem fathers. The big #1 song is “Girls & Boys.”

4. Green Day - American Idiot

Later fading from their 90's fleeting surge of popularity, Green Day faded from live performances to mix punk's first rock opera. Despite the fact that the popular band was unsure about their fan's reaction to Letterbomb, it turned out to be a UK rock classic climbing several charts and winning an award for Best Punk Album of 2004.

5. The Lemonheads - Ceiling Fan in My Spoon
